I want to make some YouTube videos, but sadly I'm not good at finding things to talk about and I was hoping you guys could help. Like suggest something you would want to see me talk about and give my opinion on or just suggest anything really. I would really appreciate it, I may not care much for this whole YouTube thing but I would like to fill my YouTube page with some videos. Hope you all have a good rest of the day/night wherever you are, bye. Heart

Fan Art?

1 min read
So I've been asked about two times on certain stories if people can draw maybe a scene or make a comic out of one of my stories and I want to say yes you guys can do that. Actually I would love if someone decided to make fan art based off of my stories! So if you want to, then go ahead and do it, though it is still best to at least ask or even tell me that you're going to do something like that.

Okay, first off I want everyone to understand that this is my opinion. Meaning that this isn’t fact and that these are only what I think and believe. If you agree with me or not is your decision, but please feel free to share your opinions down in the comments below. As long as there aren’t any venomous words or nasty comments, you are free to share whatever you want. Now, let’s begin with a little background history, back when I first joined the fandom.

I first joined the Creepypasta fandom back near the beginning of middle school. I was drawn into it due to my love of all things creepy and horror related. Around the time I was more focused on the actual stories of themselves and didn’t even know about any of the fanfiction that was being produced at the time. When I finally did get into the fanfiction side and even looked at fan art, I became amused. From stories revolved solely around romance to stories that focused on horror I rarely found any good ones to read, though.

Now mind you that this was around the time when I, myself couldn’t write so grammar and such never bothered me in these fanfictions. Wasn’t until I got better at writing and became more interested in writing did I get pickier with what I read. Still, from the fluff to the horror I was never really bothered by what people did. Now before I get into the actual ranting I will be splitting these into sections on what I think needs to be covered. As to why I’m doing this?

Because I’ve seen a few rants that did cover some good aspects, but also said things that I didn’t agree that much on. Again this is my opinion and not meant to be taken as fact. Now, let’s start with the actual rant.

Ticci Toby Situation:
I have a few things I’d like to share about this character. Ticci Toby wasn’t my favorite to start out with, it took me a while to actually like his character. I do like his outfit however. I read some of his story and I did use to follow the creator back when they were still apart of this site. Now it took a while, but I do love the concept and how the creator portrayed him in their art.

I will say I like how he is portrayed in the fandom, both his serious and menacing side and his goofy, waffle loving side. The latter never bothered me, I didn’t become aware that such a side pissed people off that much until I started looking at comments and a few rants. Now I became confused with this hatred people had for such a side and how they claimed that he hates waffles. Why did I become confused? Because of the simple fact that that side of Toby can be considered canon.

What proof do I have? Though I can’t give you any of the art because the creator put them all in storage when they left the fandom and the rest of their art is put away now due to them leaving the site completely. I can tell you this, they portrayed their creation in the art work as someone who’s goofy and loves waffles, but is also insane. Why do I love that? Because it gives a realistic aspect of what a serial killer is.

Serial killers act just like normal human beings as a way to hide among society and lure in their prey. Some people can go their whole lives knowing someone or being married to someone and never realizing that behind that person’s kind nature is a monster. To put it simply, whether you like it or not, serial killers do act like normal human beings. Some are hyper, some are sweet, some are gentle, and some are just plain normal. But there’s something mentally wrong with them due to the fact that they have the urge to kill someone.

Portraying Toby as someone that’s goofy by nature and likes waffles (don’t understand why you all think killers can’t have a favorite food. What do you think they are? Machines that are unable to eat) does not take away from his character. You can still write him off as menacing and terrifying while also having a very goofy nature along with that. Now if someone were to only write him off like that and left out the whole killing aspect, then yeah I can understand your anger.

With the waffle thing, he’s still human and humans do have favorite foods so having him like something like waffles feels more like a trivial thing to get angry over.

Masky and Hoodie Situation:
I won’t lie, when I first joined the fandom I use to think that these guys were actually Creepypastas. About a year or two later I did discover that they weren’t. Now the situation with these guys from what I can tell is:

1 – Being portrayed as Creepypastas when they’re not
2 – Personalities being different from the original concept of the two.

Now hatred for this I can understand, I know what it’s like to get angry when someone portrays something you like wrong or messes up where they originate from. But, when I see this situation I can’t help but look at it differently. I found that looking at it like they’re actually completely different people helps. What do I mean by this? Well here’s the best way I can describe this.

On one side you have the original Masky and Hoodie (from Marble Hornets), the ones that act like how they’re supposed to and aren’t in any way associated with the Creepypasta fandom. On the other side can be more of what you would call a fan made type of Masky and Hoodie. Meaning that they act and even look different (sometimes) from the original concepts making them seem like they were creations made by fans that loved the originals and wanted to make their own version. At least that’s how I see it. It may sound weird, but thinking about it like that will help a lot in calming your anger…I hope.

But, then again it might not. What I’m saying is if I were to find a Marble Hornets fanfiction that portray those two characters accurately and compare it to how they’re portrayed in a Creepypasta fanfiction, then I’d find a lot of differences from personality to actual traits. Comments on the cheesecake thing, again do you think that killers can’t eat? Like they just sit in the middle of a room starving and sharping a knife while waiting for someone to walk in. Your guys’ anger when it comes to food confuses and concern me on what you think serial killers are.

Uh, and comments with Hoodie’s attitude portrayed in the Creepypasta fandom. Again serial killers aren’t really stoic they do act and express emotions like normal people do. In all honesty, I’d would be shocked and disturbed if someone that’s shy and quiet suddenly killed someone. Hell, I’ve had people tell me that my shyness and how I’m always quiet is sometimes terrifying because if I snapped one day they’d never know.

There’s not much to comment on this section because I don’t know much about Marble Hornets, only what I’ve read from the wiki and what I’ve seen bits and pieces of. Reasons why I don’t know much about it? The videos give me a headache for some reason, like a really horrible one to the point I feel sick while trying to watch them.

Fanfictions/Fan Art:
First off, I won’t mention OCs and reader inserts, just yet. Those will be saved for later. First off when it comes to fanfictions and fan art in this fandom you get one of the two mixed genre:

Fluffy/Romance
Horror/Romance

And sometimes on rare occasion a really weird mixture of all of them or a different one. Now I’ll admit I have written a bit of the fluffy/romance type but that’s more me dicking around and not being serious about what I’m doing. I just write those kinds to be humorous or because I’m bored. As you can tell I love the fandom, but I love entertaining myself more sometimes. But, in all seriousness the horror/romance genres are literally the most popular in the group. Sometimes even being separate.

Now I’ll admit I can see why you’d be angry about the romantic fluff stories involving killers. But that’s just funny to me in all honesty because it just destroys that horrific reputation the killer has and makes it more laughable then something to take as a problem. Okay I want to address this first and that’s why I’ve mentioned in  the last two about realism when writing about a serial killer. I like stories (especially fictional ones) to have a bit of a realistic aspect in them. But, also if you couldn’t tell there are people out there who complain how they want realism in their scary stories.

You want realism in a fictional Horror/Romance story, then you’re going have to:

1 – Write the killer with a normal aspect because no not all serial killers (as you call some of these Creepypastas) are abusive to their spouse. Because guess what their spouse can go years without realizing that they’re crazed maniacs.
2 – If the main character knows they’re killers (as it would be obvious) then they either have to be already attracted to killers (which there are women out there that are attracted to dangerous men) or go bat shit crazy to even consider loving a person that’s mentally or physically torturing them.
3 – The relationships can’t always be healthy, there has to be some unhealthy aspects if the killer is mental incapable to realize how to hold off. There can be a few that can be consider healthy, but that honestly depends on the killer’s personality and self-control. Because as I said there are some serial killers out there who have a spouse and loving family that they’ve never harmed.

I write and hope to write for a living, so I have to do research on everything and figure out how to give things a realistic aspect to cause tension. So there, you want me to give you tips then here. I do have Romance/Horror stories going on and I found that the best way to write the main character is having them go mental insane for them to even consider falling for a psychopath. But as I said, there are a few I’m writing that are more on the Humor/Fluff side because I want to dick around. I do see people just complain about the fluff and how it’s everywhere.

Well of course it’s everywhere, what do you expect? Writing fanfiction online is like a competition because you’re competing with everyone else. If you want to get notice you’re going have to find something popular and write it in a way so that it pleases the majority of the fandom. I’m sorry to say, but the majority of the fandom are fangirls who want fluff it seems. I don’t like it either, but that’s how the cookie crumbles.

I know my dark romances with actual horror aren’t going to compete well with a fluffy story that’s purely romance. Fan art is the same, artist have to find ways to make their art stand out and please a majority of the fandom for it to even be noticed. From fanfiction to fan art you need to be original/unique/and please most of the fandom.

OCs and Reader Inserts:
So, I don’t know much on the OC problem, just what I’ve heard that they’re mostly comprised of Mary-Sues, but I am familiar with reader inserts (writing some of my own). Everything with the reader insert stuff can be roped in with the fanfiction rant. Actually I have a funny story with reader inserts. I didn’t know they existed so when I discovered them I didn’t think they were fascinating. I honestly didn’t know they were popular ‘til I looked more into them and now whenever I get in a fandom I look for reader inserts to see how many there are in said fandom.

Moving on though, like I said I don’t read many stories with OCs. But, I’ve read enough summaries with stories of OCs to realize how…cliché they are. Every single one of them either has the OC being bullied or abused and some of them write it so horribly it’s an insult. I’ve known a few people who’ve been bullied and abused, so when they’re horribly written it’s disgusting. Because when you use subjects like that and you want the story to impact people, then write it accurately.

You know why I say that because in reality a whole fucking school is not going to attack just one student. There are a lot of other students in that school the least you can do is either mention others being bullied or have your character have some friends. The only time a bullied student wouldn’t have friends is if they choose to be alone because surprise, surprise not all kids are assholes in school. Unless everyone in the school has mob mentality they aren’t all going to jump on the new kid and hate them in the first day. Your character has to fucking do something to make the whole school hate them.

And the abuse aspect that’s a subject I’m not touching, just if you go down that route please do research and try and be respectful to those that have been abused. The reasons I bring this up is because yeah it’s harsh to call them cliché because they’re serious subjects. But, the idea is used so many time that it’s become one. Your OC doesn’t have to be pitiful and have everyone sympathize with them, they can be strong, they can be happy, they can be normal. You create them, so do something with them.

Give them creative names, give them a backstory. I have seen a lot of people point out how most of the OCs people create don’t have backstories. A little advice, I don’t care if it takes you years, sit down and think out your characters before making them and an idea for where your story is going to go before writing it. As a writer nothing irritates me more than when people don’t try and be creative when they write. Writing is like an art, but instead of painting the picture with brushes you’re painting it with words.

If you want people to notice your work, you have to put effort.

When People Use the ‘Incident’ as a Way to Prove Their Point:
This is the last one and I’m sure many of you know what incident I’m talking about. The one were those two young girls tried to kill their “friend” to please ‘Slenderman’ and become his proxies. Why do I bring this up? Because I found a rant today and I read through it and here’s what I got from it after reading it and especially after they talked about the incident.

“Those poor innocent little girls were so stupid and didn’t understand what they were doing because they thought these characters were real after reading your guys’ fanfictions/reader inserts. Making them go out there and harm their friend without knowing it was wrong.”

Yeah, when making a rant you shouldn’t make it feel like you’re making the villains the victim. That’s what if felt like they were doing. Painting those two girls who stabbed their classmate as innocent idiots who didn’t know what they were doing. No, they knew exactly what they were doing, unless our fucking school system is really that fucking broken and their parents are that stupid not to teach them about what fiction means. You want to hear the harsh truth, they knew what they were doing and they weren’t dumb because they knew what to say in hopes to lower their punishment if they were caught.

You’ll be surprise that a lot of people who try to blame fictional things are lying just so they don’t have to face their punishment. Anyone could tell (hell a lot of kids younger then me could tell) that they were only using Slenderman as a way in hopes that the police would think they were insane and needed to be put in a mental institute and not jail (didn’t work though). What I’m saying is nothing pisses me off more than when people try to use another’s misfortune so others would side with them. That’s basically what the person was doing, hoping the readers would start to hate others for writing fanfiction because apparently “these poor innocent girls” were too stupid to understand what the word ‘fiction’ means. Listen something had to already be mental wrong with those girls long before they found out what Creepypastas was.

When you were younger and read a comic were a character stabbed someone think you could go out there and do it as well? No because I hope you’re not that stupid. I was around the same age, probably younger than those girls when I discovered Creepypastas. Sure with a child’s imagination I thought it was real, but my first thought wasn’t ‘I know better kill my family to please the killers I read about online’. No, it was to go and seek comfort from my mom and tell her I was scared it was real and listen to her tell me constantly that it wasn’t.

There was something wrong with these girls, for all we know they had this planned out long before they knew what Creepypastas were. And when they discovered it decided to find one that they could use one as sort of an scapegoat. Nothing that they did had anything to do with reader inserts or fanfiction, that was a stupid fucking thing to say in that rant. They weren’t crazed fangirls in love with Creepypastas, they were just two girls that had something mental wrong with them. But what pisses me off most about the people who use this incident to make others agree with them, is how their reaction to the situation was.

The few I’ve read would mostly have stuff like ‘Oh no! Now the Creepypasta fandom will be hated because of those two’ or ‘Those two girls ruined the Creepypasta fandom’. Like they didn’t fucking care that those two girls hurt another child, instead were more concern about this fandom. You know when I first heard about this incident, I cried and asked my mom if we could pray for that young girl. Pray for a complete stranger who almost lost her life and hope she would be okay. Here’s some advice, don’t be like the news and use a person’s death or near death experience just to get people to side with you on something.

Well there you have it. My opinion on some of the things I find important, if you think I missed giving my opinion on something or wasn’t too clear. Then tell me, also I look forward to hearing your guys’ opinion. Please be respectful in the comments down below and understand that not all of us share the same opinion and that this was my opinion, so not all of you are going to agree with me.
